SUMMARY:Testicular Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:What is testicular cancer?\n\n\n\nTesticular cancer is when normal cells in the testicles change and grow into cancer.  The cancer can affect how the testicles work normally. Sometimes testicular cancer cells spread to lymph glands at the back of the abdomen\, the chest or neck.  \n\n\n\nTesticular cancer is rare\, but it’s the most common cancer in young men aged between 15 and 34. About 170 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer every year in Ireland. \n\n\n\n\nIrish Cancer Society\n\n\n\nMarie Keating Foundation

SUMMARY:Bowel Cancer Awareness Month Screening
DESCRIPTION:Bowel screening aims to detect signs of bowel cancer at an early stage\, where there are no symptoms. Bowel cancer is also known as colon\, rectal or colorectal cancer. \n\n\n\nAround 2\,600 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in Ireland every year. SUMMARY:Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:Oesophageal cancer is cancer of the food pipe. Almost 520 people are diagnosed with it in Ireland every year. \n\n\n\nOesophageal cancer develops when cells in the oesophagus change and grow in abnormal way. \n\n\n\nUsually the tumour doesn’t cause symptoms at first\, but as it grows it can cause difficulty with swallowing (dysphagia). This is because it narrows the oesophagus and makes food lodge or stick there. After that\, it can be hard to swallow liquids. \n\n\n\nHead to the Irish Cancer Society website to find out more. \n\n\n\n\nIrish Cancer Society website

SUMMARY:HSE Vaping/E-Cigarettes - Get the Facts
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to register for our Vaping/E-cigarettes : Get the Facts webinar\, taking place on November 22nd 11am-12.30 pm    \n\n\n\nThe number of people who vape has increased significantly in Ireland in recent years. Data focused on 16 year olds\, found 1-in-5 were using E-cigarettes in 2019 which is double what it was in 2015. More up-to-date Irish data is due to be published early next year. Based on these recent trends\, we expect this will confirm a further increase in E-cigarette use among children and young people in Ireland. Adults’ usage has increased from just 3% in 2016 to 6% in 2022. \n\n\n\nThis is concerning as the longer-term health effects of vaping are uncertain at this time. During this webinar you will hear from experts about this important and emerging issue. \n\n\n\nGet the Facts on: \n\n\n\n\nTrends in smoking and vaping among adults\, children and young people\n\n\n\nBenefits and Risks of harm caused by vaping \n\n\n\nRegulating to better protect people from the harms of vaping\n\n\n\nThe environmental impact of vaping\n\n\n\nSupport for parents\, guardians and teachers to protect children and young people from the harms of vaping\n\n\n\n\nWe will also hear from young people who vape\, why they started and how difficult it is to stop.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHSE Vaping Event

SUMMARY:Breast Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:Each year in Ireland\, almost 3\,400 women and approximately 30 men are diagnosed with breast cancer.  It is more common in women over 50\, but it can affect younger women too. \n\n\n\nBreast screening helps find cancer at an early stage. If it’s found early\, it’s easier to treat and there’s a better chance of recovery. \n\n\n\nThe workplace is an ideal setting to promote awareness of breast cancer and steps we can take to help prevent it. \n\n\n\n\nHSE Breast Screening\n\n\n\nMary Keating Foundation\n\n\n\nIrish Cancer Society
