One in 5000 newborn boys in the world is affected by a rare and fatal disease: Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)<\/a>. Seems like a small group, but the 250.000 patients around the globe think big and have big dreams. Duchenne Parents have set up organizations in their countries, and all of them work day by day to guarantee access to care<\/a>, to improve research, to educate patients and families<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

September 7 is World Duchenne Awareness Day. On this day we raise awareness for Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy around the globe. As every year<\/a>, we have a special theme that deserves more attention.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WDAD 2024 theme is \u2018Raise your voice for Duchenne<\/a>\u2019. With this year\u2019s theme, WDAD supports creating a society that provides equal opportunities for all. This year we organize the 11th edition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
