Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

1 September 30 September

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is held every September in Ireland, aiming to support affected families, improve treatments, and raise funds. The movement uses a gold ribbon as a universal symbol of solidarity, with landmarks across Ireland glowing gold to increase visibility.

Awareness and Events

Fundraising: The public is encouraged to get involved by selling gold ribbon pins, hosting coffee mornings, taking on personal challenges, or making donations to charities that provide vital support for families.

Light It Up Gold Campaign: Coordinated by Childhood Cancer Ireland, this annual campaign sees iconic Irish landmarks illuminated in gold throughout the month of September.

Community Walks: Organised public walks, such as the Light it Up Gold Walk in County Kildare, bring together families currently in treatment, childhood cancer survivors, and supporters to remember children who have passed away.
