World Duchenne Awareness Day

7 September All day

World Duchenne Awareness Day (WDAD) is an annual event dedicated to increasing awareness of Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy, rare genetic conditions caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene that lead to progressive muscle weakness, mobility challenges, and other health complications. The day was first launched in 2014 by Nicoletta Madia and Elizabeth Vroom through the World Duchenne Organization to unite families, caregivers, and advocates worldwide.
