Universal Children’s Day

20 November All day

Universal Children’s Day, also known as World Children’s Day, is celebrated annually on November 20th. First established by the United Nations in 1954, it promotes international togetherness and awareness of children’s welfare globally.

The date of November 20th holds significant historical importance in the fight for children’s rights. On this specific day in 1959, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. Thirty years later, in 1989, it also adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child—the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history.
